With the shepherds hut situated just a short walk from the centre of Settle, the local pubs and restaurants are within easy reach.
With Roughfell as a base exploring the vast countryside of The Yorkshire Dales couldn’t be easier, there are many local walks to explore should you want to set off on foot from the hut and the famous Yorkshire 3 peaks are right on the doorstep. Explore the beautiful Forest of Bowland, which is full of bike trails and fantastic, scenic walks. The Lake District National Park is also within easy reach at just an hour’s drive away. Alternatively, the bustling market town of Skipton is a short drive away, as is The National Trust site of Malham Cove. The Settle to Carlisle railway line takes you through stunning scenery, and if you are lucky, you may be able to catch a steam train. For those who like touring, the Yorkshire Dales and Trough of Bowland are within easy reach.
For the nature lover, in this peaceful location, there is a range of wildlife to see, squirrels, stoats, kingfishers and the occasional otter can be seen very nearby, to name just a few.
