Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: Location is 5 minutes from a London terminus but it feels villagey. In the morning, we watched people cruise by on pushbikes, and dads take their kids to school. The room was quite large, once through the narrow access spaces. We didn't watch tv but, once sat on the sofa by the window, it felt like a relaxing space. It grew on us. Communication with our host was good - informal (WhatsApp) but prompt and always helpful. The kitchen and bathroom were clean (as was the room).

Negative: The access through the front door, up the stairs, and into the flat itself (one of two) were tatty and narrow. I used to live in London - I know space is tight, but maybe some more durable decoration to stand up to daily suitcases? I mentioned the makeshift electrical layout in the room to our host and he offered assurances that it could be reviewed. But, we had plugs where needed. There were all manner of heater appliances littered around the table area. Not necessary! The kitchenette and bathroom (only one, for three double rooms - don't get caught out in the morning!) were clean but fittings were tired. Don't expect hotel standard - more like a student flat. But, way cleaner. :-)

Summary: A simple retreat in a charming area, which grew on us.
