Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: We are not strangers to Church Stretton but first time at Shepherd's Cottage. The cottage is wonderfully located for the able bodied walker, steps and walk up the hill from town not an issue for us. Direct access to the Carding Mill Valley. We have a small car so we were able to turn around and reverse up the bridle path to the parking space very easily. Cottage is small, homely and cosy, enjoyed eating at the little kitchen table looking out of the window! Views are amazing. The double bed is one of the most comfortable we've ever slept in. Facilities basic but adequate for our needs. Some fixtures and fittings in need of updating but clean. Looking at the visitors book, can understand why some of your guests keep returning. We loved it and intend to stay again!

Negative: We know that period cottage rooms are small, therefore the recess in the sloping roof for the shower is a small space and is a little awkward. The radiator and electric fire in the living room were not working (electric fire kept switching itself off after about twenty seconds) We relied on the wall heater behind the TV by the door and it does push out a bit of heat so was ok (Only took a while to heat the room as we happened to choose the one week where the temperatures plummeted to below freezing!)

Summary: Cosy getaway in a wonderful location. Will return for sure!
