Positive: Our room was very clean and the bed super comfortable. It was a cold night but the room was very cosy. We had a drink at the bar- the staff were very friendly and attentive. Loved the gluten free options available at breakfast for my coeliac partner. I also enjoyed my breakfast. We stayed one night- it was a comfortable stay.

Negative: On arrival, we actually wondered if the hotel was open- the car park was badly iced over and the place looked quite deserted! Once we braved the path, the hotel was fine. I think shovelling or gritting the path would have made a significantly better impression and a less daunting walk to the door. The rooms are dated, in terms of decor. The shower was adequate but a bit lacklustre. The rooms could be much improved with a simpler style- less clashing patterns. It felt a wee bit stuck in the 1990s. But we couldn’t fault the helpfulness of the staff or the cleanliness of our room.
