Positive: The spa was nice, and the location was great, and the reception staff where very helpful and the overal style of the hotel was very nice.

Negative: Unfortunately, the initial room we were given was extremely poor. It was located in the basement down a corridor that smelled strongly of toilets or pests, and situated directly beneath the events room with no soundproofing. Thankfully, the reception staff upgraded us at no cost, which improved the situation — but if that hadn’t been possible, we would have requested a refund as the room was unacceptable. The upgraded room was better, but still had issues. The heating didn’t work, the single-glazed windows made the room very cold, and the bath/shower plug was clogged. In addition, the bar and restaurant service was some of the worst I’ve experienced in a UK hotel. On multiple occasions we waited more than 30 minutes to be served while staff stood chatting, they would look over to us seated and waiting but refuse to acknowledged us. Twice we ended up giving up and going to the pub next door. I've stayed in many a harbour hotel, and this was by far the worse experiance.
