Linlithgow 3 miles. This charming terraced cottage is three miles outside the historic town of Linlithgow. Stylishly decorated with a bohemian feel, this lovely cottage has been designed with a couple in mind and is an excellent base for exploring central Scotland. You park at the rear and enter via the kitchen then up one step into the sitting room which has an open fire as well as a dining table. From your kitchen window you can look out over the fields stretching off into the distance. A bathroom and double bedroom complete the accommodation and there is a lawned front garden as well as a secluded decked area at the rear. The highlight of Linlithgow are the ruins of its spectacular Palace, birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots, its grounds and Linlithgow Loch, where visitors enjoy sailing, fishing and bird watching. As well as enjoying the grounds, you can explore other aspects of the towns history by following the Heritage Trail, encompassing the traditional Town House, the Palace Gateway and St Michaels Parish Church, with its eye-catching aluminium spire. At the end of the row of six cottages is a country lane. A short drive from the cottage will get you to BeeCraigs Deer Park which is open throughout the year and is admission free. Hopetoun Farm Shop is ideal to stock up with produce reared and grown on the Hopetoun Estate and if you want something different why not try your hand at clay pigeon shooting? Sitting between Glasgow, Edinburgh and Stirling, Linlithgow has excellent road and rail links, so why not explore one of the major cities within easy reach? This lovely cottage would also act as a great base during the Edinburgh Festival. Try a boat trip on the Union Canal, running from Falkirk to Edinburgh and see the superb Falkirk Wheel as it lifts canal boats up and over and onto the other part of the canal.
