Located within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the award-winning beach is one of Cornwall’s most popular surfing beaches bordered by golden sand and backed by dunes and dramatic cliffs. From the beach at low tide, you can walk to the neighbouring and equally stunning beach at Chapel Porth to the east. The village of Porthtowan offers a couple of cafés, a restaurant, a beach bar serving food and directly overlooking the beach (perfect for great views of the sunset), a village convenience store, a fish and chip shop as well as ice cream outlets.
If it’s coastal scenery you’re after, you can pick up the South-West Coast Path in Porthtowan (just a 5-minute stroll away) and either head towards Portreath to the west or Chapel Porth and St Agnes to the east.
